Congratulations to you!!!
Being born again is a great decision for you. You are starting a new journey with the Lord Jesus Christ. There is indeed a great joy in heaven and they all join in welcoming you.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17
You are now a new creature as you have been transformed and you now have a new Spirit as a son or daughter of the Lord.
Below are some of the steps you have to take to help your growth and development in this new journey:
Locate a Bible-Believing Church
A church is a gathering of believers like yourself. It is a system designed by God to build us as believers and help our relationship with Him to become better daily.
As a Christian, locating and continuing to fellowship with a Bible Believing Church is simply obeying God and committing ourselves to a growth and support system.
Now ye are the body of Christ and members in particular 1 Corinthians 12:27
Jesus makes us understand that believers (Born Again Christians) are His body and He is the head. Take a look at your body, the head can not grow alone, likewise other parts of the body. You need the support and strength that comes from other parts of the body of Christ.
A bible-believing Church is simply a Church that has Jesus as its focus and preaches things that align with the Bible. Look for one very near to your place of residence and attend their next day of worship and ensure you tell the leadership about your status as a newborn again Christian.
Learn From An Established Believer
Since you are new on this journey, some questions will keep burning within you that needs to be answered. One of the ways you can get answers to these questions is from someone who has been on the journey before you.
It can be a believer closer to you, the Pastor of your newly found Church, or any other believer they can pair you with.
The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:9
Paul was an Apostle of the Lord Jesus and he was talking to the believers in the Church at Philippi. Learn from those whose answers are consistent with the scriptures (The BIBLE).
The Bible tells of the new believers at Berea who always checked the bible to verify whatever they hear. Do the same by cross-checking with the scriptures
And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth. Acts 17: 11
Study The Word of God Daily
A newborn baby needs milk (whether directly from the bosoms of their mothers or the formulated ones) to grow well and stay healthy. You also need the milk of the WORD OF GOD and must do well to eat it daily.
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. 1 Peter 2 vs 1-2
You need to know that the Bible gives you the needed understanding of all the issues of life and it will also provide the relevant direction to all spheres of your life.
How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalms 119: 103 – 105
You can start by reading a few verses to a chapter of the bible daily and do well to stay committed to it. You can also use a Bible Plan or Phone Applications like YOU Bible Version to plan your daily Bible Study.
Have a special book where you can jot down those important lessons as the Spirit impress them in your mind.
Learn the Art of Praying Daily and Stay Committed
Learning the habit of praying daily is another important thing that will help your Spiritual growth. While Studying the Bible is like the Milk needed for your growth, prayer is like the oxygen that you need to stay alive.
Prayer keeps you growing in your relationship with the Lord. Jesus Himself commanded that you must daily and continually pray.
Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. Luke 18:1
There are so many prayers you will always find in the pages of the Scriptures as you study or that the Spirit of God will always drop in your mind daily. Do well to take out time to pray well effectively.
Start on a great note with the Holy Spirit
One of the key provisions of God for a great and vibrant Christian Journey is the Holy Spirit. Simply see the Holy Spirit as the co-sojourner assigned to help you in the journey.
Yes, you might not be able to see Him physically but trust me, He is ever present to support you in all areas of life.
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26
God is interested in our daily Growth and that is why you have the Indwelling of the Spirit of God. All you need is to daily listen to the leading and promptings of the Spirit and trust Him to keep guiding you before taking a step. You should also do well to thirst for the Spirit upon Baptism of the Holy Ghost.
Now that you know those things you need to do in your journey to become a better and fruit-bearing believer, do away with the old ways of yours and start greatly with the Lord. Importantly, do well to keep growing daily.
